Corrosion is the process of destruction of a material as a result of reactions occurring between its surface and the external environment. This term is most often used for metal alloys in which the metallic elements slowly return to the state they occur in the ores. In the case of steel, we are talking about rusting, which, according to estimates, globally causes the destruction of up to 25 million tons of steel per year and may pose a direct threat to human health and life.
However, in all its dangerous nature, steel corrosion is an extremely picturesque and inspiring phenomenon.
